This plant is so tiny, maybe an inch at base and the colorful clustered seeds or flowers were also 1-3mm at most. I caught it in the corner of my lens when I was capturing another plant close by it. I would have missed it otherwise & I'm glad I didn't.

Juvenile about 4" height in the photo. Amazing blue iridescence, photo doesn't do it justice. It was just glowing neon blue. Saw it about 30 feet away in the light of the flashlight. Assuming Lesser Two-spot as that's what I usually see in the area.

*Pictures are of tortoise alive on 3/26/22. 4/14/22 Update: Remains were completely scattered, it is believed the tortoise died of dehydration due to the indents on the scutes. 4/13/22 Update: this tortoise was found dead on 4/9/22, outside of its burrow, it’s left front arm had been severed but was still attached, and the muscle was attached and visible. Just the skin was broken. So sad. No signs of a struggle in the sand. Hopefully there might be other tortoises, but I feel like this is the same one I have only seen whenever I’ve visited this area. 90 degrees at 2:50pm with a light breeze. There are many burrows in this one location, but I don’t know if there’s more than one tortoise or not here. It looks like the one I saw last October, and it was very close to the burrow it was in the last time I saw it. For some reason iNaturalist is not working right now so I can’t link the October observation…
