Nice little Eurycea stream. Found two clutches of eggs, one with the female present. Not terribly abundant, but adults and larvae in the stream.
Seen along gravel road in the Belmont Plateau trails area.
I know this isn't a very good picture. These guys move fast and it was the best I could do! Still, I think you can make out the stripes along the back and sides, and the reddish head. Also, I believe the five-iined skink is the the only skink that regularly occurs in Philadelphia county. Happy to be corrected if wrong!
Under Monterrey cypress.
Staining olive green in KOH.
Under Monterey cypress, taste mildly farinaceous. Little to no odor. From one of the locations listed in the original species description of P. deckeri.
