Was on the same flower head in the morning and the afternoon.
Looks to be immature. The wings are not fully developed.

The color is due to erythism, a genetically inherited condition that causes odd color morphs, such as yellow and pink.

When I tried for more photo angles, it flew away, so probably an adult.
One reference suggested:
"This pink colouration is caused by a genetic mutation called erythrism, which is similar to albinism, but rarer. The genetic mutation is little understood and is caused by a recessive gene. The mutation results in one of two things happening, or even a combination of the two. There is a reduction, or even absence, of the normal pigment and/or the excessive production of other pigments, in this case red, which results in pink and purple morphs."

Length 4.6 mm. Multiple specimens collected from bark and wood galleries (except for one that I found walking on the bark surface) in a dead hickory - I suspect that they were originally Euplatypus compositus galleries, but I'm not certain. I've shared the samples with coleopterists at FDACS-DPI, and gotten in touch with Tommy McElrath at the University of Illinois, who studies this group.
