Differential characteristics of the humerus compared to Caretta caretta:
- greater curvature
- Tuberculum majus and Sulcus intertubercularis more accentuated
- outline of the facies articularis of the Caput humeri slightly pointed;
- ovalized (non-circular) Tuberositas teres major et latissimus dorsi scar
- Tuberositas deltoidea much more prominent
- Medial epicondylus more prominent (less rounded)
- Fossa radialis more elongated
Even the length of 14 cm is at the extreme of possibilities for Caretta caretta, while it is medium for Chelonia mydas
Caratteristiche differenziali dell'omero rispetto a Caretta caretta:
- maggiore curvatura
- Tuberculum majus e Sulcus intertubercularis più accentuati
- contorno della facies articularis del Caput humeri leggermente appuntito;
- cicatrice Tuberositas teres major et latissimus dorsi ovalizzata (non circolare)
- Tuberositas deltoidea molto più prominente
- Epicondylus mediali più prominente (meno arrotondato)
- Fossa radialis più allungata
Anche la lunghezza di 14 cm si pone all'estremo delle possibilità per Caretta caretta, mentre è media per Chelonia mydas

Una bella specie di "forbicine", che supera abbondantemente i due cm di lunghezza.
Qui sono rappresentati due esemplari, una femmina, più piccola, ed un maschio, più grande e con dei cerci (le "tenaglie") molto più sviluppati - si tratta di una specie predatrice ed abbastanza sociale, infatti avevo trovato più esemplari a girare nella stessa area.
Ampliato il raggio della ricerca non ne avevo però trovati altri, senza riuscire a dare una spiegazione basata sul tipo di habitat; ho scoperto solo dopo che presenta un picco di attività immediatamente dopo il tramonto, per cui il problema non era il luogo, ma il tempo.
E' una specie buona indicatrice di condizioni ecologiche ancora integre, rispetto alle coste e dune sabbiose.

Una mamma volpe con i suoi 4 volpacchiotti, a godersi il tempo passato insieme.
E' stata bravissima a riuscire a crescere ben quattro figli (numero di per sé molto elevato) in quest'anno, in cui la siccità ha estremamente ridotto il numero di prede disponibili.
