I transplanted 3 clumps maybe 4-5 years ago into a 3x3 foot wooden-sided open container in order to more easily keep track of their phenology. The containers recieved no additional water aand recieved only occasional clipping. The container has been invaded by sedges with dense fiberous roots. The containers have rotted over time and I was afraid the the sedges might be competing with the Ladies Tresses. So I decided to dig up the NLT and replant the tuberous roots into new containers. It looked as though the tuberous roots increased in number, some broke apart as I sorted thru the dense sedge roots. My impression was the tuberous roots didn't seem robust when growing in the sedge roots. I plan on controlling the other vegetation in the new containers. Plants appeared to be sending up new leaves in response to recent heavy rains after a long dry spell.
