For several minutes I watched as a male A. mixta tried to mate with a female A. juncea. Dragonflies periodically landed in tandem, then took off. The male climbed with the female to a great height and tried to form a copula, but the female kept bending her abdomen. At some point they uncoupled and the female sat on the reed, but the male found her again and the attempts continued. The photo shows a series of pictures of this interesting observation. There are the same dragonflies everywhere.
