Habitat: Field near forest edge, very sandy soil. In the road and on edges of road. Edge. Disturbance: none (road not used in quite some time). Completely sympatric with puberula; two plants in flower, all others in bud, at very bottom of the slope nearest the creek, and quite morphologically distinct from puberula. Habitat: Pine flatwoods, much more closed canopy than savannahs, also fairly wet in places with pitcher plants! No topography along trail side. Understory, trail edge. Disturbance: none, just trail traffic. Percent cover: <2%; with 20-30% in understory cover and 90% in tree canopy cover Population 0% damaged (all healthy). Plants way smaller than at Georgia site! Habitat: Pines in forest behind ditch. On slight hillocks towards forestside of ditch. Not in ditch. At edge of non-grass. Full sun. Disturbance: Mowing- but NOT exactly where the plants are growing. Scattered Population 0% damaged (all healthy). Plants big. A few plants have been flowering for a while but many just started and some not yet flowering. No ripe fruit. Understory. Disturbance: mowing. Associated Species: Sympatric with L. inflata, L. nuttallii, and L. puberula. Percent cover: 5-10% Population 0% damaged (all healthy). Collected by: Andrea Case with Lynda Delph and Chris Herlihy. Project-specific code: LCARDAC17103 Owner did not want us to collect soil or whole plants, but allowed us to take leaves, seeds and photos; owner's son told us we could take a couple of plants; NB - owner's late husband apparently planted a lot of the wildflowers in the yard.

Description

Habitat: Large open field, somewhat prairie like in center, standing water at edge. L APPE in center, drier and v flat, open. Full sun. Disturbance: little to none- would be really hard to mow. Associated Species: Rhexia abundant, mostly grass, asters. Sympatric with L. flaccidifolia. Percent cover: <1%. Total ~2 plants. Population >65% damaged. Observed lots of LFLAC-necrotic spots on most leaves, some had lost aprox 1/2 of the leaves- only 2 L app, one had lost main stem. Collected by: Andrea Case with Chris Blackwood. Project-specific code: LAPPECB21015 L. appe. is a "maybe"- plants were really small for appendiculata and leaves not quite typical (more spicata-like). one of the two was esp. small + spicata-like, LATE flower, likely more of them given the no. of iNat records
