Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)

Observer

Description

Walking past the library I noticed a large bird of prey perched atop a light post.

It was a brown falcon or hawk with a white belly and black/yellow beak. Further, it's talons and toes were bright yellow similar in shade to its beak. It was around 18 inches in tall - it's wingspan I do not know as it did not fly away.

Through extensive research online I have determined the bird to be the Peregrine Falcon - Native to NE and usually resides around rivers or lakes (which are abundant in this geographical region).
