felt hard when poked with the dipnet but floated; After poking around online I think it's some sort of bryozoan but no idea if a more exact ID is possible

I believe this is a bryozoan, but I’m not sure. They were attached to a log, most of them underwater. One was open and appeared jelly-like in texture. Mirror Lake, WI.
Located on cattail in intermittent stream channel.

If you see these eggs, destroy them! Apple snails are an invasive, ecosystem destroying pest. They do not belong to Louisiana. Take them off of whatever they’re sticking to and crush them with your shoe. If you throw them in the water, they just hatch.
First time I have seen these on my walk. A very isolated suburban pond. Might have come by duck or geese feet?
