What

Dusky Dolphin (Sagmatias obscurus)

Observer

Date

Description

There were a few small groups of dolphins offshore, just beyond the breakers. At first I thought they were all Heaviside's Dolphins, but when I looked more closely at the photos, there may have been Dusky amongst them. I am only going on the shape of the fin.

Description

Someone cut chunks out of it. The chunks were strewn in the vicinity of the carcass so I would imagine it was done there. Perhaps they did a autopsy to find the cause of death
