Description

First Grove, Borrego Palm Canyon. Sighted in conjunction with a bat acoustic recording project. This grove burned extensively on 18 January 2020. Insect activity coincided with ongoing spring migration. Other species present included Wilson's Warblers, Least Bell's Vireo (a pair heard and observed but not photographed), Wilson's Warbler, Canyon Wren, and White-winged Dove.

Description

First Grove, Borrego Palm Canyon. Sighted in conjunction with a bat acoustic recording project. This grove burned extensively on 18 January 2020. Insect activity coincided with ongoing spring migration. Other species present included Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Least Bell's Vireo (a pair heard and observed but not photographed), House Finch, Canyon Wren, and White-winged Dove. There appeared to be at least one male and one female Wilson's Warbler present. The third image of a male was taken about 150 m down canyon from the grove photos and may be a third individual.

Description

Tadpoles sighted in same location as photo documentation of mating Red-spotted Toads on 4/24/2010. Adults were not visible at the time of this most recent encounter. The tadpoles were clustered in two adjacent pockets of water with a total extent of approximately 1 1/2 x 2 meters.
