Description

Locally common in small colonies of 3-8 plants. Specimens on forest floor in drifts of leaf litter under a dense canopy of tarahinau (Dracophyllum arboreum), mataira (Myrsine chathamica), hikoa karamu (Coprosma chathamica) and wheki ponga (Dicksonia fibrosa).

Flower pale pink (not captured well by camera). Stem green in this example densely eglandular-glandular hairy.

Often found growing with Caladenia chlorostyla.

Description

Cultivated from live plants sampled on 20 August 2022 from Normal Kirk Memorial Gardens.

First flowering of plant. Leaves dark green with midribs dark red near base fading to mottled pink / green in upper portion of leaves. Leaves weakly dimorphic, adaxially sparsely hairy. Capitula with glaucous involucral bracts, outer bracts ciliate. Capitula florets producing little pollen. 2n = 24.
