Valves are biundulate. The axial area is wide; sometimes nearly as wide as the central constriction. Differentiated from the similar Staurosira contruens var. binodis based on striae characteristics and valve size.

Description

Scale bar = 10 µm.
Disc-shaped large valves, concentrically undulate with a convex, or concave, valve face. Large radial subhexagonal areolae. Biseriate fascicles on valve margin, separated by costae. Spines at the ends of every two to three costae just inside the valve face margin.
Same specimen on photo 2 and 3.

Description

Scale bar = 10µm

Specimens match measurements for sp.40 SESQA from Bishop et al. 2017. Bishop et. al has sp.40 SESQA as measuring Length = 36.5-47.5; W= 7-8; Striae at center =10-11.

Valves somewhat asymmetrical on the apical axis. Has one puncum in central area. Apex and base about the same size. Striae are radiate near base and central, but parallel at the apex. Differs from G. manubrium in that valve centers are not as inflated.
