Petasites frigidus ssp. palmatus (Western Sweet Coltsfoot) is now beginning to bloom in this shady spot.

A Bewick's Wren was picking at the lichens on a branch.

Porella navicularis (Tree-ruffle Liverwort) is the liverwort I notice most frequently in our forests.

I was surprised to find Clavaria fragilis vermicularis (Fairy Fingers) growing in a sunny spot in the grass. I've only found it a couple times before, always in very dark forests.

Growing close to base of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). About 10 inches (25.4 centimeters) in diameter

I think these are Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis (Western Amethyst Laccaria). There were dozens in a clearing beside the deep forest.
