It was the only track of this morphology found in the area. Dirt trail through thick chaparral. Not what I consider classic jackrabbit habitat, but the morphology and size seems consistent. Added a distribution map from Tremor et al. 2017 (SD County Mammal Atlas).
Great to see one of these in a palm oasis
Transfer tracks left on a metal door on the ground at an abandoned research station. The amount of negative space in the track is impressive.
Echo Meter Touch 2 used for recording and species ID ("accurate" ID setting).
Little guy living under my house!
Roosting in a covered walkway. The third shot offers a sense of scale. The blocks are 8 to 9 inches square.
Added on 12/9/2018: photos of scat that were next to the series of lion tracks. I'd walked past several tracks and found the scat first. Scat had a large 3/4 inch diameter vertebra inside.

About 6 ft, BIG guy. Would not budge from the trail for quite a long time. Finally went to side of trail and coiled up but did not want to move from there.
