I was looking a woody vegetation over 1m in our 10x10 plot. These trees were all around and in our plot. The bark on their trunks were covered in a black moss/lichen.
I was looking at woody vegetation over 1m in our 10x10 plot. This first plant appears to be a native, with shiny round leaves.

Different leaf patterning only on the new growth. Could any one explain how it is caused?
