Pluchea bulrush and Washingtonia palms aggressively rob shoreline habitat at Kealia Ponds, the most functional. Mudflat shorelines near shallow water is the most functional shorebird habitat at the refuge.
Koloa (Hawaiian Duck) have been reintroduced to this pond, but there are also Koloa-Mallard hybrids to consider.
