The dragonfly was freshly an adult, evident from the nearby dry shell of the nymph body. It was drying off the wings above waters of the Arroyo Seco, seemingly thought to be injured because one wing had yet to completely dry. The abdomen and thorax had black and yellow coloration, much like a bumblebee! This individual was able to fly freely once the wing fully dried into the depths of the Riparian Forest.
The first one I’ve seen here! Nearly stepped on it, didn’t expect it to be basking in the middle of the road; it was pretty hot out.

Polite snake on Ladybug Trail
Found on the side of the trail. Moved it from the trail and found another one right by the first one shorty after(pictured last)
Snake had just caught a California tree frog. You can see the frogs legs sticking out the side of the snake's mouth.
