Locally common on roadsides and in lowlands.
Not common here.
Present along main channel.
Small area dominated by Pappophorum vaginatum and also Panicum stramineum.
Biotic: Nitrogen fixation by symbiotic bacteria in root nodules
Abiotic: Soil fertility (prefers nutrient-poor soils)
I found this flower on my hike. The color is what attracted me to it initially. The leaves on this plant are very interesting as well. This was the only one I saw the whole hike and also exploring the mountain. I thought there would’ve been more around.
