D. rotundifolia lovely little specimen, growing in heathland.
Jim Saigeon was going to lead a wildflower hike the next week, so I accompanied him while he scouted things out. I spotted this plant and said "Hey Jim, what's this tiny yellow flower?" He turned, looked and froze then said "I haven't seen that in 20 years! It's an orchid - Early Coralroot!" Thought it would be appropriately special for my 1,000th species.
Treed alvar. Specimen collected and mounted for TRT at Royal Ontario Museum.
