It looks like a yucca but the serrated the edges of the leaves have me questioning my guess for the species. Found it close to a field of wild flowers.
AI says its Verbesina alternifolia
but it also looks like it could be frostweed
AI first said it was white prickly poppy but I said there was no flower bulb so it suggested Berberis trifoliolata which I believe is correct
Growing in a middle, gravel area. This is the second year they popped up, the first year they got eaten up by insects.
Common in North Central Texas. Photo shows one in tall grass.
