Changed ID from P. nodiflira to P. lanceolata based on: 1. Ascending vs. Prostrate, 2. Relatively longer leaf length, 3. Tapering leaf base vs. cunate, 4. a bright red male cardinal, perched over my head in the live oak tree.
this bird was alert to the presence of my cat. I kept a sharp eye on us both.
This observation is a single common buckeye butterfly that came to nectar at a fragrant flowering shrub ( I don't know the shrub).
