Name: Callicarpa americana

Description: This plant was observed appeared to be nearly 6 feet in height, and spanning approximately 5 feet. Its leaves were green, smooth, and lightly rippled, were about the size of one's palm, and appeared to be slightly wilted as some of the leaves hung toward the ground. The branches from which the leaves grew appeared young, light green in color, and relatively firm. The stem of the plant was light brown and wood-like. The plant produced distinctive smooth magenta colored berries that grew in clusters that were similar to a pea in size. The clusters of berries were abundant on the plant.

Habitat: This American Beautyberry plant was observed on a warm, sunny afternoon in a slightly shaded area that would receive direct sunlight at certain times of day. There were no other American Beautyberries in the immediate vicinity, though varied plant life grew nearby. The ground in which it grew was sandy.
