Visiting Erigeron, then perched on a nearby leaf of Aruncus (I'm pretty sure the bee in the latter sequence is the same as the bee on the flower in the first image). Chelostoma?
I had one of these parasitic beetle larvae on a Nomada a few years ago but I can't remember what type of larvae or the name for the larvae. I think the bee is a male Andrena cressonii.
last photo shows wide pseudopygidial area well
Leisurely inspecting a regrowing disturbed open area in the suburbs. Lots of bare dirt and short plants. I'll try to get another photo next sunny day.
Orchard Project
This bee did not have the "jizz" of an E. Carpenter Bee and it was smaller. I never saw the face. Is it a species of Digger bees? Or perhaps a member of the Tribe Eucerini? Thank you for any ID suggestions. I found it on a large glade property belonging to the MO. Dept. of Conservation.
