Milkweed Assassin Bug, Zelus longipes. I see this insect in all developmental stages in the gardens, in all weather and in every season. The specimen was photographed on the leaf of a Sweet Almond Verbena (Aloysia virgata), in the morning sun, with ambient temperature of 65°F. The photographs are unaltered (with apologies for the glare).

7 February 2015: Walked the Wetlands Trail during winter at the Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center (CCNHC) in Denton, Texas, and encountered a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) that allowed us to get close enough to be able to take its digital image, Tufted Titmouse. The CCNHC is administered by the City of Denton, Texas.
