kiyi's Identifications

Was walking back to YNC from Berlin Wall, heard a bird darting about. Was on a tree nearest to USP Learn Lobe Staircase

• small-sized bird
• glossy metallic green plumage on head, back and wings
• underside of body is yellow plumage
• beak is long, slender and slightly curved

ERC Rooftop. Saw them huddling in a group (last pic)

• medium sized bird
• homogenous plumage: glossy iridescent very dark navy blue (almost looks black with no strong lighting). iridescence may also look metallic green
• eyes are bright red
• tail short and square-tipped
• non-iridescent black eye stripe
• beak is short and stout, slightly curved at tip (to catch insects and eat fruit)

ERC rooftop

• brownish grey plumage on the crown, extending to the back, wings and tail
• white plumage on chin to flank. dabs of light brown plumage here and there
• black eye stripe extending from base of beak to the cheek
• small beak: top mandible is darker than bottom mandible. beak is black-tipped
• pale edges on its primary feathers, forming distinct wing bars
• black eyes

ERC Rooftop. Was balancing on one leg for a really long time.

• bright green plumage on the nape, wings, flank and tail
• bright orange beak. upper mandible hooked downwards
• black eye stripes, eyestripes are connected to each other
• black stripe under the chin, extending to underside of cheeks on both sides of head.
• yellow iris
• orange breast

Male:

• plumage: body is bright green with pink neck patch. underparts are pale green with a elliptical yellow patch in the middle of the chest. head is a muted blue colour that fades into the pink plumage of the neck.
