Description

This organism was found on a tree, blending into it almost perfectly. This animal is considered wild because it was not put forcibly by humans, and can move freely between environments. This picture was taken in cloudy 92 degree weather, with little to no winds.

Description

ID Justification: Plant was approximately 10 inches tall. Leaves were approximately 6 inches long, slender, light green, with parallel veins. Flower was about 1 inch wide by 1 inch long. Flower color was red-orange with a green strip down the center. Flower shape was a five pointed star with an additional point coming out of the center. Distribution is primarily the southern half of the United States of American, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and Italy.
Habitat/Weather: Found in a maintained backyard lawn. Location contained a variety of grasses and clovers. Weather was partly cloudy, humid, and approximately 90 degrees F.
