Description

Erect herb around 0.5 m in height, flowers are tiny and purple to pink, florets 6-8 and arranged basally along stem, thyrse inflorescence, leaf margins irregularly toothed, elliptic, hairy and wilt easily. Intense smell, almost minty, like a strong incense.

Description

The specimen is a small herbaceous plant with 4 linear leaves (whorled) in several ranks along the stem. Leaves have 3 main veins. Stem is green and square in shape, with a rough texture to it. Leaves are simple, entire and also have a rough texture to them (like the stem). Leaves are between 1 and 2.5 cm in length, and 1 and 6 mm wide. Leaves are linear-lance shaped. Plant is 17 cm tall.

Description

Small herbaceous plant (between 20 - 30cm tall) with showy purple flowers. Flowers have deep purple/blue tips with distinct fringe and 4 petals (corolla length between 2 - 4 cm). Leaf width is not more than 1cm (between 0.5 – 1cm ). The base of the flowers range from white to deep purple, with deep purple vertical stripes. Some of the petals are “open”, revealing 4 yellow anthers/filaments, and 2 connate carpals. Some flowers remain closed. Large green sepals surround the petals, but are never longer than the petals. Opposite leaves through the entire stem, most of which are green with deep purple tip. Plant is growing in sparse clusters (between 3-10 plants in nearby vicinity). The length of the calyx is between 2 - 2.3cm long and flower length is between 3 - 3.5cm.

Description

Tall erect shrub with deep red stem and many prickles throughout the stem and branchlets. Leaves are compound and consist of 3 leaflets. Leaves are green, double-serrated, and have white hairs on the underside of the plant. Leaflet size varies considerably, with smaller leaflets located at the top of the plant. Plant was around 1 m tall.

Description

The plant species is a trailing/creeping prostrate shrub (woody stem). The leaves are simple, entire, and alternately arranged. The leaves are thick and leathery (coriaceous) and have a slight downward turn at the end (reflexed). Leaves are between 5 - 14mm in length and 3 - 7mm wide. The underside of the leaves have faint black dots. Fruit is a fleshy, red berry. This plant is found in large groups (i.e. many of the same species in the area, many connected to one another through common root system).

Description

The plant species is an erect shrub (woody stem ~0.4m in height). Leaves are simple, entire, with a green leathery texture (coriaceous). The leaves are elliptic to linear in shape, with both ends tapering. The upperside of the leaves have small white dots on them. The underside of the leaves have a distinct woolly mat of orange hairs. Leaves are between 4 and 6.5 cm in length. Stem is woody and is peeling in some sections. Plant grows in groups (i.e. many of the same plant in the area). Strong aromatic smell.

Description

Plant is tall (0.65 cm), self-supporting and herbaceous. Inflorescence is a pink/purple globose head (3 – 7 cm long), with more than 30 individual flowers. Individual flowers are zygomorphic and have a fused calyx tube. The flowers are 14 – 16 mm in length. Leaves are compound and lanceolate in shape, with a blunted leaf tip (obtuse). Leaves have a mottled appearance with lighter patch on the upper-side of each leaf. Stipules are present and abruptly narrow to a short awn. Plant is fragrant, with a sweet smell.
