Description

I was out at Mortar rock and I spotted a snail. A bit odd because the suns been out recently, but it was still around (Mortar is pretty shaded anyway). I didn't have my phone on me but I went online and found a snail similar, I knew it had to be a garden snail since that's pretty much all you find here. What I'm interested in is the curvy part of them that extends out of the snail. I know it's how they move and it's their "foot" but some snails seem to be more cylindrical and some snails seem to flatten out at the bottom, and I'm not sure why!

Our golden retriever likes to munch on these. To me they have no flavor whatsoever. They grow between the sidewalk and buildings in our neighborhood. Curious as to what it is and why my dog might favor it.
