What

Coastal Pricklypear (Opuntia littoralis)

Observer

Description

This is the only species of Opuntia littoralis (Coastal Prickly Pear) that I could see at the Alluvial Scrub Community at Eaton Canyon. As I'm sure there are others, it is doubtful that this species is dominant anywhere in the area.

Black Sage (Salvia mellifera)

Observer

Description

This is a picture of Salvia mellifera (Black Sage) at Eaton Canyon. In the Sage Scrub community, Salvia mellifera, among others, seems to be heavily dominated by Artemisia californica (California Sage).
