This one gave a convincing false rattle to mimic a rattlesnake. In the third image, the tip of the tail is vibrating so quickly while tapping the ground that it is a blur.
After much discussion with experts I finally feel comfortable posting this as B. incognitus. Number one reason is because this is the only species of Batrachoseps ever found in this drainage, even though B. nigriventris are found north and south of here. Also has slightly longer limbs than B. nigriventris.
