We found the second patch of Platanthera flava yesterday. There are 8 plants, 3 are blooming. This is the first one.
The flowers are pointing downward. (See first and second picture). Maybe because of its main pollinators of these orchids are mosquitos and moths?

It's sad someone chopped off its tail and dumped it back into the ocean.
My husband caught stingray before, he just threw it back into the ocean....why chopped off its tail? That's just a cruel act and unnecessary.
