With Valeri Ponzo; a return visit to spend more time with all the Juniper Hairstreaks and skippers on the thousands of Oakleaf Fleabane flowers that we briefly enjoyed two weeks ago. But regrettably, some FDACS yahoo ignored the Florida Statute to protect all wildlife on state conservation lands, and moved down 95% of the fleabane that were growing alongside the parking lot and the trails. As a result, we found only 9 Juniper Hairstreaks -- all of them photographed, including being eaten by a crab spider -- and no skippers at all. We walked from the parking lot to the platform on the western end. The weather at the start was sunny and 83 degrees ("feels like" 85), with a light breeze. We left at 1611.
