Found dead in the parking lot first thing in the morning. I've never seen this species down on the coastal terrace so I suspect it was hit by a car elsewhere and fell off once it parked here.
Sighting and photos (c) rosemeadows.
sharp little claws, beautiful color.
As per Vincent Vos of Bolivia and Flávia Miranda of Brazil, both are in agreement that this animal is indeed 'cyclopes thomasi' of the family Cyclopedidae. It is NOT
'didactylus'.
In addition, this register is the only known find of Cyclopes thomasi in Peru!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exciting!
Was surprised to find this little SC Black sally under a rock in a wet weather wash leading to a creek. Still has its blue speckling.
