We saw this on the concrete sidewalk. It was approximately 3-5 inches long and about as thick as a headphones jack (3mm in diameter?). It started to move quicker when we shone light on it. It found some soil and burrowed.
Can't really tell from the photo, but these were almost white.

Not entirely sure about the species. This guy (http://www.backyardnature.net/n/h/skullcap.htm) says that they key difference is that drummond has a hairy calyx, while wright doesn't If I blow up my pix, my plant doesn't look especially hairy, so I'm going with wright.
From an evening hike at Slaughter Creek Preserve. Lots of blooming things, cool breezes--a really lovely walk.
Nest in a cholla (Cylindropuntia imbricata). I'm not if this type of nest is indicative of a certain species, but I thought I would at it just in case.
