Black pyrenomycetes fungi growing on top of old stromatic pyrenomycete, probably on top of Hypoxylon.
8-spored asci with bitunicate walls, IKI-, measure Me = 77 × 8.2 µm ;
2-celled ascospores are brown and measure in H2O
(11.8) 11.9 - 13.1 (13.6) × (4.8) 5.3 - 5.8 µm
Q = (2.1) 2.2 - 2.4 (2.6) ; N = 11
Me = 12.6 × 5.5 µm ; Qe = 2.3
On dead branch of unknown deciduous tree in backyard. Each spot is made of tiny black balls on black subiculum. each unit is 0.7mm wide. Seems as an asexual stage. Spores are irregular in shape, with two drops, no septa: 4-4.9 x 7.9-10 mu. Some big lemon-like structures: up to 7.4 mu wide. Update: on sycamore maple: Acer pseudoplatanus.
Unsure of substrate - two fungi found
This observation is for the black-crustose layer,
Showing embedded pigmented spores
On dead Ulmus branch, black pyrenomycetes fungi growing on top of old stromatic pyrenomycete. Next to Patellaria crassispora.
