The best photos I’ve taken with this new camera so far! Not print quality, but light years ahead of my phone - you can see the sawdust flying through the air as he was flinging it out of that hole in the tree! (Very excited by this observation, obviously, so uploading the maximum 20 pics including some less than great shots that show him more zoomed out/in context, or just taking flight with wings out, or the one of him marching up the trunk I just think is cute how his little foot is out.) He was super bold, these are all extremely close to a path with plenty of people and dogs and he absolutely did not care.

I hear woodpeckers in this park and in the streets of this neighborhood all the time, both drumming and calling, and actually expected to see a downy and was surprised by this guy instead. I think I’ve also seen a flicker in the neighborhood before but not for a few years now.
