Thought it was mountain mint, but not minty.
Opposite leaves. Not whorled.
Leaves longer than wide, differentiating from R. cathartica. Blandy Farms introduced this species and is dominating on this site
Thought crocus at first, but the bud/emergent part of the plant doesn’t look right.
