The Painted Stork has a wingspan of 150 to 160 cm in wingspan and weighs upto 4 kg. Their distinctive pink tertial feathers of the adults give them their name. Like all storks, they fly with their neck outstretched. They often make use of the late morning thermals to soar in search of foraging areas. Birds in captivity have been known to live for as long as 28 years.
