On the intelligence of Anoles

Anoles have been proven to be extremely smart for their size. A 2011 study conducted of birds and anoles intelligence. The specimens used were Puerto Rican Anoles. This species is not commonly used in research. The test was little wells with lids on them. They had inside them worms.
The Anoles had one chance per day, while the birds had several chances. That meant that they had to wait another day to try again. The anoles had less chances and yet did it faster than the birds. They stuck their noses under the lids and popped the lid off. The birds instead pecked the lid before actually taking the lid off. The researchers used a bright lid and a dull lid. The Anoles then associated the bright lid with the worm.
So the researchers switched the worm into the dull cup. Later on, they noticed two of the four anoles were picking at the dull lid. These two anoles were named Plato and Socrates. This showed that anoles were the smartest Genus of all reptiles. Their intelligence rivals birds for their size. Small Brain 🧠 doesn’t mean low intelligence. This makes Anoles the biggest and smartest Genus of all reptiles.
This information is NOT mine. This was a research conducted by scientists.
