Campground at Winton Wetlands Reserve to hotel in Albury

Woke before the sun rose and traveled from campground to marsh observation platform at Winton Wetlands. We wanted to scan the marsh and listen (and audio record) for bitterns etc. After the sun rose we drove to Oven National Park and we had breakfast. We then planned to drive to Chiltern National Park to try to audio record some honey eaters including the very rare Regent Honeyeater. As we passed through Wangaratta, we saw a large ripple on the Oven River. We turned around and parked and found a place to view the river from a foot bridge. Kaia announced that she had a platypus and I was luck to briefly glimpse. It was perfectly behind a branch of a fallen tree in the river until I took two steps to the right. It dove and we never saw it again. We finally arrived at Chiltern National Park and had success with 3 new species of Honeyeaters. It was getting very hot, so we opted to get a hotel for the night.
