EPA Coastal Wetlands Monitoring Program 2024 — Lake Erie (Trenton, MI)

Saw some beautiful species during sampling for the EPA CWMP (2024) in the area surrounding Grosse Île and Hennepin Point (Trenton, MI). Sunfish were well represented, with Green, Northern Longear, Bluegill, and Rock Bass all present. There were also adorable baby gar (probably Longnose) milling around in the water amidst the SAV on both days. Eyetail bowfin, of course, were caught in almost all the nets, and were in their beautiful mating colors. Turtles were in ready supply, including some particularly angry Common Snapping turtles. And the Hexagenia mayflies had clearly just emerged before we arrived: there were still some stragglers chilling out on the boat or truck when we woke up each morning.
