I got tired of seeing the same dozen plants recommended for bees-- usually introduced species. I've even seen people recommending ICE PLANT (shiver). The familiar European herbs are all very well and good, but there are major native workhorses that throw out tons of blooms without needing garden care. I mean, have you SEEN woolly blue curls? The whole plant is fragrant, including the leaves, which can be used for tea. The flowers have crazy shiny purple stamens that look like curls of optic fibers. Don't put it in your high maintenance garden-- it don't need no stinking summer irrigation, and in fact may die if it gets much.

I'm trying to put together as extensive a list as I can.
