Geologist by training. Retired Director of the Ontario Geological Survey, Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. I have traveled across Canada, from Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans. I have traveled extensively across Ontario's Far North, visiting many of the remote, fly-in First Nation communities. My passion is photography of natural systems and the relationship between geology and natural systems. I have an active social media presence: a) https://www.facebook.com/andy.fyon; b) https://www.instagram.com/andyfyon/; c) ontariobeneathourfeet.com; d) ontariowildflower.com .
I am not an expert biologist or botanist. Plants are a hobby and the relationship between plant communities and geology is my interest. I am familiar with only a small number of species, but I look for: a) plant type; b) plant community; and c) geological substrate.
