My great-uncle, M. I. H. (Ian) Brooker, was the world's leading authority on the eucalyptus genus. Ian described 44 taxa of eucalyptus himself and jointly described another 172. His contribution was honoured when a fellow botanist dubbed Brooker's Gum (Eucalyptus brookeriana).

In my own very small, humble way I honour his memory by taking time to identify and learn more about the species around me and the wonders of the botanical world. I am particularly fascinated by fungi and live in the central highlands of Victoria, Australia.
