I have been interested in natural history since early childhood and received my academic training at San Diego State University where I majored in zoology. I have worked as a wildlife biologist in the environmental consulting field in California for over 35 years. My primary interests are in evolution, biogeography, systematics and taxonomy, vertebrate zoology, herpetology, ornithology, ichthyology. I also am interested in entomology, botany, native vegetation, and earth history and geology.

I am a member of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, Western Field Ornithologists, and California Native Plant Society. I also have been interested field photography for many years and particularly enjoy photographing amphibians and reptiles and natural landscapes.
