I've always been curious about the natural world and regret now that I didn't pursue a career in biology.

My knowledge of west coast flora & fauna increased greatly during my years working at the local botanical garden designing habitat gardens using only plants native to coastal BC.

As I've started posting my observations to iNaturalist, the process has made me more mindful of my surroundings and appreciative of my proximity to natural areas on the BC coast that are still relatively intact.

My photos are taken with either an iPhone or an old Canon PowerShot camera. I always try to get photos that include distinguishing features of the organism I'm looking at. I also try to include observations of plants, animals and fungi during each outing.

A personal project is to document all the coast redwoods I come across in southwest BC.
