Dutch birder (born December 1989; age 33) with twenty-five years of field experience, currently living in the Netherlands. I have lived in Mexico City for six years, where I was regional reviewer on eBird for three years, and guided some birding day trips and short tours in Central Mexico. As a side project, I am illustrating birds of Mexico with graphite pencils, coloured pencils, watercolour and gouache. Besides birds, I am also interested in other organisms, mainly moths, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, flies, bugs, beetles, bees and mammals.

Over the years, I have traveled to more than forty countries, but I have only begun taking photographic documentation seriously from October 2020 onwards. I will gradually upload my sightings from the past years to iNaturalist. What I still have to upload are photos and sound recordings from Faro, Portugal (February-April 2021), the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico (April-May 2022), Extremadura, Spain (April-May 2023), Niedersachsen, Germany (June and September 2023), the Philippines (July-August 2023), Bermuda (October 2023) and the Netherlands (2020-2023).

Equipment:

• Bird photos from June 2023 onwards taken with Canon EOS R7 and RF 100-500mm zoom lens (cRAW + JPG, processed in Adobe Lightroom).
• Bird photos from May 2023 and earlier taken with Nikon Coolpix P950 (JPG).
• Sound recordings made with Zoom H4n Pro recorder and Sennheiser ME66/K6 shotgun microhpone, and processed in Audacity (for amplification, high-pass filtering, deletion of cracks and reduction of background noise).
• Moth and most other insect photos taken with cell phone (currently using Motorola Moto G73), and some with the camera equipment mentioned above.
