Old-school naturalist, herpetologist, biologist by training (PhD in Zoology—mostly studying biogeography, population composition, genetics and evolutionary ecology of unisexual/hybrid/polyploid Ambystomatid salamander complexes), writer by vocation. Relevant books include "Snakebit: Confessions of a Herpetologist" Greystone 2008, and "The Aliens Among Us: How Invasive Species are Transforming the Planet—and Ourselves" Yale 2017. Spent 10 years on the board of the Canadian Herpetological Society, current Whistler Naturalists board member, terrestrial ecology advisor for Átl'ḵa7tsem/Howe Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region, board member Fire & Ice Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark. Otherwise adventure-travel guy living and learning in Whistler, B.C.
