I live in Freiburg, Germany, a place in the world perfect for Bryophytes. We have Mediterranean climate at the Kaiserstuhl, the wine growing region 10 km W of the town, and Subalpine climate on the high peaks of the Black Forest, just a few km in the East. In a circle with a 15 km radius we have more than 600 different species of bryophytes, what is a quite rich diversity.
Maybe it is one of the highest diversity in the world. So it is consequent, to work with bryophytes, if you live here.
After I had learned most of the local species. I had travelled around, to learn other species of Europe and the World.
